BECOME Project Presented at the 68th International Scientific Conference of the University of Mining and Geology “St. Ivan Rilski”

On October 17, 2025, the 68th International Scientific Conference of the University of Mining and Geology “St. Ivan Rilski” took place in Sofia — one of the most significant scientific events covering mineral exploration, extraction and processing of raw materials and waste, mechanization, electrification and automation, economics and management, humanities and social sciences, as well as innovation in education.

During the conference, the BECOME project (Boosting Circular Economy Expertise through Learning Communities), funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Alliances for Innovation programme, was presented. The presentation highlighted the development of advanced training programmes aimed at strengthening expertise in the circular economy, the establishment of Learning Communities, as well as the successful events already held to foster dynamic knowledge exchange, best practices sharing, and collaboration between academia and industry.

The conference traditionally gathers leading Bulgarian and international scientists, researchers, and industry representatives from around the world. This year, participants joined from Austria, Germany, Romania, Ukraine, Japan, Uzbekistan, Serbia, Turkey and several other countries. The event was distinguished by high scientific quality, in-depth discussions, and the presentation of the latest innovations and achievements in mining, geological and engineering sciences.

The participation of the BECOME project further emphasized its contribution to strengthening the links between education, research and industry, while supporting the development of advanced skills and modern competences essential for the sustainable transition in the mineral raw materials sector.

Once again, the event reaffirmed the University of Mining and Geology “St. Ivan Rilski” as a leading national and international center of scientific excellence and innovation in the mining, geological and engineering fields.
