Learning Community in the Netherlands
The CE Learning Community in the Netherlands takes a broad approach to Circular Economy (CE), focusing on technical and biological materials, energy, water, biodiversity, and value (incentives).
Key focus areas for the CE Learning Community in the Netherlands include addressing skill gaps by promoting new ways of thinking and acting, and raising awareness of product quality. There is a strong emphasis on sharing best practices and analyzing current developments. The Learning Community regularly invites experts and fosters an environment of knowledge sharing. Learning takes place both in companies and in schools, through collaboration and the exchange of facilities between students and employees.
The Learning Community collaborates with a wide network of partners such as:
- Circulair Utrecht – Entrepreneurs building a circular region (Circulair Utrecht: ondernemers bouwen aan een circulaire regio)
Circulair Utrecht is a business association for and by entrepreneurs with circular ambitions. At Circulair Utrecht, you’ll find a strong network, access to knowledge and funding, and direct connections with municipalities and the province. Together, we develop concrete circular projects and accelerate our transition to a circular economy.
- GeLUK Healthy Living environment Utrecht knowledge ecosystem (Gezonde en Duurzame Leefomgeving Utrecht Kennisconsortium – Wij Zijn GeLUK)
The GeLUK Project aims to accelerate the transition to a healthy and sustainable living environment in the Utrecht region.
- Heijmans (Heijmans – Het kan samen)
Heijmans as a construction company, focuses on materials, energy, climate, water, and biodiversity. They apply circular principles to both technical and biological materials, using the R-strategy in communication with clients, municipalities, employees, and suppliers—often as part of tenders.
- Hogeschool Utrecht (HU.nl | Hier komt alles samen | Hogeschool Utrecht)
We aim to reduce the ecological footprint of our region by addressing societal challenges in an integrated way: ecologically, technologically, economically, and socially. Sustainable solutions must also contribute to an inclusive, just, and safe society. That’s why we educate students to become change agents who create impact through sustainable innovations.
- Leren voor Morgen – Learning for tomorrow
We aim to embed sustainability into the core of education using the Whole School Approach. Guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we focus on both environmental and social aspects, such as equality and inclusion. We also serve as the national coordinator for the SDG 4 Alliance on quality education.
- SPARK Campus – Building the future together (SPARK Campus – samen bouwen aan de toekomst)
SPARK Campus is the hub dedicated to accelerating the digital transition, enabling sustainability and circularity in the construction sector, and equipping people with the skills they need for the future.
- Tech Campus – ROCMN (Tech Campus | ROC Midden Nederland)
The Tech Campus of ROC Midden Nederland trains professionals for the circular economy. They connect students, companies, and teachers to jointly put sustainable innovations into practice.
