ESG Academy in University of Mining and Geology “St. Ivan Rilski”, Module ESG regulations in raw materials industry
The ESG Academy at the University of Mining and Geology “St. Ivan Rilski” is the first specialised national programme for training specialists from the mineral and raw materials industry in sustainable management. It is implemented in partnership with the Association of Sustainability Specialists.
The goal of the Academy is to prepare industry specialists working in the field of sustainable development for the changes and development of various requirements in the field of sustainable reporting. The tools and practical exercises offer an interactive way of learning and applying the presented material.
The participants in the training will be prepared to apply their knowledge and contribute to the rapidly changing business environment, which requires professionalism, capacity development, and adaptation.
The modules are taught by a team of highly qualified experts who combine expertise and international experience gained in the academic sector, public institutions, private local and international companies, and international and non-governmental organisations.
After successfully completing the full training course (6 modules), participants receive an official certificate.

- Overview: ESG coverage in EU legislation (environment, due diligence, company law)
- ESG-opportunities – the Critical Raw Materials act and sustainable raw materials production
- Critical Raw Materials, and due diligence (conflict minerals, CSDDD, OECD, environmental due diligence)
- Certification schemes and standards – developments at EU level
- CSRD and ESG reporting for raw materials and mining: general introduction to CSRD reporting requirements and phase-in
- CSRD and ESG reporting for raw materials and mining: required data relevant for raw materials; interaction with GRI
- Taxonomy : reporting obligations and implications of greening of financial markets for EU raw materials production (+ SFDR)
- Permitting – ESG-related regulations in the pipeline
